What We do
Facilities and Infrastructure is a key strategic pillar for Football Victoria (FV). It is our responsibility to partner with both State and local government to provide adequate spaces to play and meet the ongoing challenges of ensuring there are enough suitable facilities to meet growing demand.
Our strategy of developing new pitches, increasing the capacity of existing infrastructure and establishing new facilities such as change rooms and clubhouses for all footballers, particularly women and girls who now make up almost a quarter of all players. In addition, FV must continue to look for facility development opportunities.
FV, with assistance from Football NSW, has now produced several Facilities Guides, building on our ‘State Football Facilities Strategy to 2026’ to deliver sustainable and vibrant football facilities into the future. The Facilities Guides have been prepared by FV to provide guidance to football clubs and associations and local government authorities (LGA’s) regarding football facilities development and upgrade projects.
FV acknowledges that LGA’s are a significant champion of Football in Victoria. It is essential that we work closely with our council partners to plan, work on metropolitan and regional development plans and to assist in seeking State and Federal funding to help deliver these very important projects.
FFA and FV have a target of 50:50 gender equity participation by 2027, the social impact of Australia’s largest participation sport achieving this would be profound. To achieve these ambitious targets FV must nurture the prospects of our sport in partnership with clubs and associations, all levels of government and other stakeholders.
